I don't read a lot of books, but I never underestimate their value. I know movies don't do them any justice. But still, there are times when I would rather just watch the movie. When I get back from work, pull out a six pack of Labath Blue and just turn on the tube.
The hobbit was one of the books I've actually read and love. Yet, I'd like to see Peter Jackson make it into a movie. I'd watch it for sure.
